We met when we were working for Marco Pierre White in the early ’90s in the very heady days of Harveys on Wandsworth Common and have been firm friends ever since. Both they were part of the team that gained 3* Michelin with Marco. Max amongst other exiting projects went on to open The Fat Duck for Heston Blumenthal as front of house while Philippe worked for Oliver Peyton (BBC’s Great British Menu judge).

In 2004 Philippe was voted Harper & Queen UK Sommelier.

We never lost contact and when we met for a drink in London’s Borough Market in 2018 where Max was working, Philippe asked Max if he finally had enough of London? This is where The Little Wine Shop & Social started!

Since, Will and Will, Andy, Izzy, Harry, Tiff and many more joined to make a great team of people rich with different skills. The latest person to join being Olivier Certain. Olivier was born in the South of France where he attended culinary school and started his career in Michelin starred kitchens. Since his move to the UK in 1997, he has worked mainly on and around Exmoor as award winning chef (Somerset Chef of the year) and head chef of renowned restaurants.
